Responsibilities and duties of the Linux system administrator

 Duties of a Linux administrator: System administration has become a fixed requirement for a company and an institution that needs a reliable IT base. Therefore, the need for efficient Linux administrators is the required time. The job profile may change from one organisation to another as responsibilities and tasks are added to the function. Below are the few responsibilities of a Linux admin role:


  • Install & maintain all server hardware and software systems, manage all server performance and ensure availability.
  •         Make a complete system backup and help restore all operations and educate users
  •         Design and maintain all system tools for all automation processes and scripts and monitor all capacity planning.
  •         Integrate all necessary software and solve all problems in different technologies. The design requires commercial servers and provides backup support
  •         Evaluate all documents according to system requirements
  •         evaluate the overall design and run tests on all development activities and manage all problematic methods.
  •         Develop an infrastructure that meets all business needs and regularly fix system problems.
  •         Monitor day-to-day systems and assess the availability of all server resources and perform all activities for Linux servers.
  •         It helps to configure and deploy all virtual machines and to install and deploy backup copies of all configuration processes.
  •         Maintain and monitor all patch releases and design different patch installation strategies. Service all systems according to NIST ’standard
  •         Manage the full power of different resources and guarantee their optimisation and support for all applications as well as optimal customer service.
  •         Maintain and monitor all system frames, provide support after accessing all systems, and get the best Linux knowledge.
